My name is Asime Oba from Nigeria, and I am an early-career conservationist with a strong background in microbiology and environmental science and a deep commitment to preserving, protecting and conserving wildlife and wild places in Nigeria through research and development. I believe passionately in the education of future generation; having worked as a conservation education tutor at the Wildlife Conservation Society, Nigeria. I have been an active follower and supporter of the International Union for Conservation of Nature -IUCN for most of my life, and in 2023 my passion and interest in conservation came to head when I started my internship at WCS, Nigeria and spent three months carrying out field work at the Cross River National Park.
I am currently working with Protected Areas Program of Africa & Conservation - PAPACO, of the International Union for Conservation of Nature - IUCN as a Volunteer Youth Conservation education tutor for children and youths, at the same time I an conducting independent field survey and research to explore wildlife species distribution, population and inventory in Nigeria's Niger Delta region.
