About Ashley

Hello Everyone :) My field is in Interior Architecture from the accredited Columbia College Chicago, with most of my years with small design/build firms here in the PNW. I'm now freelancing so I can build Wildlifeel at Home - a blog and design studio centered around 'conservation-based design/build practices' - so I can help change my industry from within. I seek to create homes in such a way that allows wildlife to keep theirs, too, because one home no longer needs to be sacrificed for the other to thrive. I also live off-grid in a small one-room cabin on acreage in the foothills of a national park. I care for the woodland creatures, the food forest, endless evergreens, fish laden creeks, wildlife meadows and more. I'm here to make long-lasting friendships and to learn from the many other conservationists on WildHub!

Good luck!

Hey Sally! Thanks so much for your input on this project. Your perspective is helping me to see things more clearly, helping me to see how/where I can bring the best value for folks too <3

Survey completed. Good luck with your plans Ashley! Looks interesting.

As a side-project last year I set up a sustainable painting and decorating business locally and found that clients were very happy to chose more environmentally responsible products, even though they were more expensive, when I explained how they were more sustainable.

I’m so incredibly grateful for you - Thank you Lindsey, for the survey and this comment! It’s helping to build confidence and optimism. You’re a really big help for this. Can’t thank you enough.

Such a lovely message, thank you Ashley! Welcome! What would your ideal next step look like, career-wise?

Oh, what a powerful question :) thank you.

I'm really wanting to carve out time to find the best of the best alternative materials to design/build with in my region. And then to make them standard at my job and within my teams. It's been a dream step for years, but I'm finally pushing hard for them as a new default. Need to learn about each so I can teach, and so we can share with clients the benefits to wildlife if we make the mindful choice.

..I don't want to be a part of the problem anymore. I want my industry to help save natural habitats, not constantly sacrifice them. Offering alternative materials is my first step! 🧡
