Hello WildHub community!
I’ve been asked to help pull together a high school curriculum on climate change for a health and development NGO in Uganda.
Does anyone know of any other curricula created for youth, ideally in subsaharan Africa? Or know who may have been involved in creating something similar? I'm sure similar content are already exists so it would be great to collaborate and work with others! Please let me know if you'd be interested in contributing.

Thanks for sharing your request, Nafeesa! Let me link some people into the conversation who may be able to help you further. @Aiita Joshua Apamaku , @Madina Amin Hussein , @Natukunda Irene Kananura , @Boka Kondua Dieuleveut, @Alan J. Hesse , @Sarah Humphrys , @Kate Vannelli : could you please help Nafeesa with her above question? Many thanks in advance!
Thank you, Thirza!
Hi Nafeesa! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been involved in related programs (but not necessarily full curricular). I also do know some folks who’ve been doing same or something similar.
Happy to contribute.
Fantastic! Thank you, I'll be in touch :)
Hi Nafeesa,
I'm very pleased to see your post about climate education because this is now my main area of interest. I haven't yet developed any curriculum myself, but I do know of a number of resources for learning about climate change, which I could point you to. In terms of actual contributions I author educational graphic novels about Climate Change, and these and associated projects and products make up my line of action in this regard. I don't have anything specific to sub-saharan Africa but happy to have a chat anyway if you would like to.
Great, thank you, Alan! If you could please point me to the resources you mention, that'd be great - either here, as a direct message or email - whichever you prefer!
Hi Nafeesa. There is an increasing amount of websites that offer teaching aids and resources for climate change, but it may be a challenge to find anything geared to your region specifically. Having said that, a lot can be drawn from them anyway because of the global nature of climate change. Here are some examples:
https://globalgoalscentre.org/resource-hub/
https://www.worldwildlife.org/teaching-resources
https://ecomedialiteracy.org/teaching-resources/resources-for-teachers/
https://www.globalteachinginsights.org/channel/Climate+Action/212779523 this one is useful to see what others are doing around the world
Good luck and keep us informed!
Alan
Thanks so much, this is a great start. The tentative plan is to pull something together and then adapt to context by adding local examples etc, ideally with the help of local youth
Hello @Nafeesa Esmail - I'm a co-founder of an education-to-action organisation called AimHi Earth. We're on a mission to provide everyone with the essential understanding, skills and ideas to overcome the climate and nature crisis and ensure a healthier, fairer, more prosperous future. We develop accessible climate training so that everyone fully understands the key climate concepts, is equipped to communicate about them with impact and is empowered to make a difference (as an individual and a collective).
We offer training for teachers, employees and basically everyone honestly! We're also doing a public masterclass tonight if you'd like to check it out and come along!
We're working with a group in Nairobi on adapting our sessions for students in Kenya, but haven't worked in Uganda yet... Let me have a think of who else might be helpful.
Thoughtbox have a climate curriculum that is amazing.. https://www.thoughtboxeducation.com/climatecurriculum
The Ministry of Eco Education have a number of Curriculum Resources here:

(I know both of these groups if it would be helpful to put you in touch?)
Hi Sarah! This is all super super useful, thank you very much! Let me look into all of this a bit more and speak with the NGO again and will get back to you if an introduction would be useful!
