I have been working in community based conservation and protected area policy for the last 20 years. I am now employed by the Australian Government in the Kokoda Initiative Partnership. My key areas of work in Papua New Guinea are community land use and management planning, conservation benefit sharing, capacity building and policy. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. In my home town I take to hiking, skiing and team activities and am involved in my work, local and global community on various committees and appointments. 

I am a storyteller and conservation communicator based in Mozambique. With a background in psychology, political science, and education, I weave together human-centered narratives that reflect the complexities of conservation work on the ground. Formerly a homeschooling teacher in a remote game reserve, I now work across departments to spotlight untold stories, bridge cultures, and explore the emotional landscape of environmental work.

I want to find new ways to have a positive impact on the environment and communities around the world. How I do this is pretty open; I have wide-ranging interests (including the arts and spending time outside) and am willing to adapt to changing circumstances.  Although I've stepped back from being a community advocate for the WildHub community, I'm still happy to answer questions about the platform and will do what I can to help connect people.

An explorer and an aspirant biodiversity conservation researcher. I seek to delve deeper into the study of the human-nature nexus and strive to foster more harmonious coexistence. I have gained brief experience in wildlife conservation at the Creative Conservation Alliance, working with Western Hoolock Gibbons and a few other wild animals. I am also working as an Associate Trainer at Mekateam, a game-based pedagogy where I provide training on basic climate literacy and biodiversity conservation to youth. Moreover, I synthesize and express my understanding of biodiversity and the natural world through my initiative, 'Toru.' Currently, I am undertaking research on Asian Elephants addressing the human-elephant conflict in Bangladesh.

I have designed and instructed field courses in East & Southern Africa from 2 weeks to a month and as I absolutely love this, I continue to do this as a freelancer for universities whenever needed. I worked and still work with with ShareScreen Africa to curate FREE learning experiences through guest speakers. We are still at the very beginning of our journey and have many a plan in store for students hungry for more knowledge and experiential tales from those working in the field. I am working as a Teaching Fellow at the African Wildlife Economies Institute to curate an online learning experience in conservation business and leadership (I am not contributing to content but to dissemination of content). My focus here is the learning management platform and the community we can build that will be full of ideas and new perspectives. The idea with all I do, virtual and in-person, field and classroom based, is to deepen the understanding of leadership amongst our learners, to drive a personal and professional journey in learning that has both vision and ‘future hindsight’. The focus of the learning does not come from the teacher but through knowledge empowerment – peers, online resources, structured and unstructured workshops, projects and using other innovative forms of assessment. Yes, we want to enable immediate application of skills and knowledge, but we also want students to come to their own realisation that the teacher does not know all. That it is up to them. Their ideas, experiences and knowledge to build workable solutions.

Hello! I'm Léa and I'm a WildLearning Specialist with WildTeam UK. I help create, design and deliver training courses. I love getting to know all the participants and learning from them :) Previously, I was working with BirdLife International on forest governance issues and in my previous life I worked in the development sector in the United States. I am Fleur, based in the UK, and I am the WildHub Conservation Catalyst Programme Co-ordinator, supporting conservation professionals to develop their writing, communication, and leadership skills through this inclusive global platform. I hold a Master’s degree in Animal Behaviour from the University of Exeter and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oxford Brookes University. My research background includes woodland butterflies and bumblebees, alongside a strong interest in woodland animals more broadly. I also have comprehensive knowledge and expertise in domestic rabbits and their welfare and care. Alongside my work in conservation, I am the founder of Your Own Mum (https://www.yourownmum.co.uk/), a resource space and weekly journal supporting mothers navigating parenthood without maternal support or a traditional family network. This work draws on my background in psychology and my passion for creating thoughtful, compassionate spaces that help people feel less isolated and more understood. I am deeply passionate about wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and meaningful communication - particularly where it brings people together on shared paths.

I am a Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarian currently working at Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital in Northern NSW, Australia. We are a NFP organisation providing free veterinary care to sick and injured wildlife in our area. We work closely with wildlife care groups and other wildlife veterinary organisations within our area to provide positive welfare outcomes for wildlife. Our aim is to rehabilitate as many animals back into the wild as possible. We have been running for 3 years and it's my hope in the future that we will work with other stakeholders on conservation projects in situ for threatened species. When I am not working I love volunteering for conservation organisations overseas. I have spent time working for the Gili Islands Eco Trust, Bornean Orangutan Survival Foundation and I am just about to go back to Borneo to do some dental work on Orangutans for Orangutan Foundation International.

I am a trained biologist and primatologist passionate about wildlife conservation, specifically conservation medicine (one health); the intersect between wildlife, ecosystem and human health. My interests span primatology, marine science, veterinary medicine, public health, human-wildlife interactions, community-based conservation, sustainable development, deforestation and ecotourism. I received my BA in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I worked with the Schusterman Group: Pinniped Cognition and Sensory Systems Laboratory 
at the Long Marine Laboratory, assisting set regulation standards on marine mammal noise pollution for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. I completed my MSc in Primate Conservation at Oxford Brookes University in 2011. Working closely with the Uganda Wildlife Authority and Conservation Through Public Health my independent research project focused on disease transmission risks between humans and mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. Following my MSc I directed the Rwanda based nonprofit Art of Conservation, using the arts and creative learning to teach children and their families about living healthy, and helped launch the local offshoot nonprofit Conservation Heritage-Turambe. I work with many nonprofits and professionals across the globe using conferences, events, publications, photography, film and digital media/marketing to share my experiences and knowledge. Between my formal education I have worked as a veterinary technician for over seven years and lived in six continents. I am passionate about our world, exploring new places and cultures, meeting unique and extraordinary people, learning, photography, film and would like to improve the health and livelihood of our planet through work as a conservationist, scientist and filmmaker. I am currently working on a feature length wildlife multimedia project, The Great Call, and an educational one health short on my Master’s work regarding safe mountain gorilla trekking protocols. I am a social scientist and passionate about increasing the application of social science research and methods in the conservation sector. To do this, I founded Human Nature. Human Nature is a social enterprise empowering conservation professionals to use social sciences to impact people and planet. We provide training and mentorship to NGOs, academics, policy makers and others wishing to build their foundations in social science. Many people working in conservation have trained through natural science routes, and find themselves needing to better understand the people elements of ecosystems.
