About Abdirisak Ibrahim
Ibrahim, a passionate advocate for wildlife and plant species conservation, has dedicated his career to scientific research and promoting harmonious co-existence between humans and wildlife.
Academically, Ibrahim holds a Master of Science degree in Forest and Nature Conservation with a specialization in society and policy from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Complementing his academic credentials, he earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Peace and Conflict Studies from Coventry University in the UK, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Development from the University of Bosaso in Somalia. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Ibrahim aspires to pursue a PhD in the near future.
With over a decade of experience in the non-profit biodiversity conservation sector and natural resource management in Somalia, Ibrahim brings a wealth of expertise to his work. He has collaborated with numerous international NGOs, UN agencies, and think tanks, leveraging his strong research-oriented and management background to drive impactful conservation initiatives.
Recognizing the need for a national organization with a broader focus on wildlife and plant species conservation, Ibrahim founded the www.speciessavior.org in 2019. As a researcher, Ibrahim has conducted extensive field analyses in the frankincense harvesting regions of Somalia, and has authored numerous research papers and articles on frankincense sites management and conservation status.
